Michael Mellon has become the fifth current Morecambe FC player to receive an international call up.
The striker has been named in the Scotland U21 squad for their upcoming UEFA Euro Qualifier away against Spain U21s next Monday (September 11).
The 19-year-old, on a season long loan at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium from Burnley, has been called up for the first time, on the back of his excellent start to the season, where he has so far scored four goals in all competitions.
Mellon’s selection adds to midfielders JJ KcKiernan and Eli King, who were named in the Northern Ireland U21 and Wales U21 squads respectively, while there was a further call up for Jacob Bedeau for Grenada, the first time the defender has been named in an international squad.
In addition, forward Adam Mayor has been named on the standby list for the England U20 squad for their training camp.
The Shrimps were due to face Barrow in League Two on Saturday (September 9), but the fixture at Holker Street has now be rearranged and will be played on Tuesday October 31, kick off at 7:45pm.
