Morecambe beat Bury in latest pre-season outing

Teddy Collis struck twice as Morecambe rounded off their pre-season away schedule with a 2-0 victory over Bury at Gigg Lane.

The Shrimps got off to a flyer in the first half. Ben Williams went down the left wing with the first attack of the game, and his cross was met by the head of Teddy Collis who put Morecambe ahead inside 25 seconds.

Morecambe then went on to control the opening period and were soon rewarded again when Collis found the back of the net again on 20 minutes.

He was played through on goal, before he chopped back onto his left foot, and calmy found the far corner with his left foot.

Into the second half and Collis nearly bagged his hat-trick in the 59th minute after beating the offside trap, but his shot straight at the keeper.  

Myles Boney had a quiet afternoon in goal but was called upon in the 74th minute to keep his clean sheet intact. Louis White’s strike was heading for the far corner, only for Boney to claw the ball away at the last second.  

Bury captain James Neild then came close when his shot from the edge of the area hit the left-hand post, as close as they would come to hitting the back of the Morecambe net, and the Shrimps held out to secure the clean sheet, to go along with their win.

Morecambe return to play in front of their home fans next, with a fixture against AFC Fylde on Tuesday evening.
