Morecambe have signed Bolton Wanderers midfielder Nelson Khumbeni on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old, who joins on transfer deadline day, began his career with Norwich City at U9 level before progressing through the ranks and signing a professional deal in 2021.
68 appearances later, in a variety of competitions including the U18s Premier League, Premier League 2 and the FA Youth Cup, the defensive midfielder made the move north to Bolton Wanderers in 2022 where he made his debut in a Carabao Cup victory over Salford City.
Fast forward to the current campaign, a first senior goal came as Wanderers overcame Manchester United U21s by eight goals to one in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
A few short weeks later, Khumbeni secured a loan move to National League side AFC Fylde where he made nine appearances in all competitions.
Speaking on his arrival at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium, he said: "I'm delighted! When I heard about the move, I just thought straight away 'jump at it!'.
"I came in and [the Gaffer] spoke with me about how he wants me to play, and how my attributes and how I am as a player can benefit the team.
"I like to say I'm more of a defensive midfielder, but I would do whatever the manager wanted me to do in order to help the team in any way, shape, or form."
