More than 100 regular bus services per day will not be running this week due to driver shortages in the Lancaster district.
Bus operator Stagecoach announced the reductions in services on its website. The company apologised for any inconvenience caused.
A spokesperson for the Lancaster District Bus Users Group said: "Local people have been suffering from cancellations for some time now and it's disappointing that it's about to get worse - whatever the reason.
"Worst hit is service 4 (University - Railway Station - Lancaster Bus Station). Services 1/1A (University to Heysham) are also badly affected as is service 100. Altogether, no fewer than 60 buses per day between Lancaster and Morecambe will not run next week.
"There are also cuts on services 2X, 6, 6A, 40, 41, 49 and 55."
A spokesperson for Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire said: “As with many industries across the country, we are continuing to face a short-term staffing situation that is out of our control due to the shortage of professional drivers.
"As a result, this is having an impact on our bus services in Lancaster.
"Our team are working incredibly hard given the current circumstances to ensure the vast majority of local services are running.
"We will continue to update passengers on services impacted via our website and social media channels with as much notice as possible.
"We are also taking proactive steps to introduce summer timetables for the 4 and 100 services from next week, to help give our customers certainty on the buses operating.”
