Leaders from our local area joined a major celebration of Lancashire Day at Westminster.
David Morris, MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, and Cat Smith, MP for Lancaster and Fleetwood, were among those who marked the day by taking part in events in the Palace of Westminster on Wednesday.
A special event was organised for business and civic leaders to come together to celebrate what the county has to offer.
Guests included Councillor Caroline Jackson, leader of Lancaster City Council, Mark Davies, chief executive of Lancaster City Council, John O'Neill, manager of Morecambe BID (Business Improvement District), Councillor Phillippa Williamson, leader of Lancashire County Council, Tim Neary and Rob Chatwin from Eden Project, who hope to build a new visitor attraction in Morecambe, and representatives of local businesses.
The day also marked the unveiling of the Lancashire 2050 Framework, which sets out a strategic plan for all of Lancashire's councils to work more closely together to benefit people in the county.
Councillor Phillippa Williamson, who is also a county councillor for Lancaster Rural North and chair of Lancashire leader's group, said: "This hugely important document will help shape the future of Lancashire for many years to come.
"It is incredibly fitting that we are able to announce its publication during a celebration of Lancashire Day, where dozens of businesses and organisations that represent the very best of our county are showcasing their work in the Palace of Westminster.
"While we know there is more work to do, this is a major step forward which shows how unified the county is and how focused we are on the needs and aspirations of our residents.
"These are exciting times, with Lancashire ready to take more control of its own destiny. The county's future is bright but together we can make it brighter."

A special Lancashire Day reception, hosted by Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Chorley MP and speaker of the House of Commons in the State Rooms of the Speaker's House, showcased businesses and organisations who are leading the way in Lancashire.
BBC Radio Lancashire also hosted a broadcast direct from Westminster where MPs including Cat Smith (pictured below) discussed why Lancashire is the best place in the world! Lancashire Day will be officially celebrated this Sunday, November 27.
