Two men from Heysham have appeared in court in connection with the death of a cyclist after a road traffic collision in Morecambe.
Back on Saturday September 21, 2024, emergency services were called to Oxcliffe Road, Heaton-with-Oxcliffe, Morecambe, to a report of a road traffic collision.
When officers attended, they found that a Seat Altea car had collided with a pedal tricycle, causing the cyclist to fall into the road. A Mercedes car then collided with the cyclist.
James Lawley was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Today, Wednesday January 28, following an investigation by Lancashire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, and after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the drivers of those two vehicles appeared in court.
The driver of the Seat, Matthew Isherwood, 28, of Granville Road, Heysham has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
The driver of the Mercedes, Kevin Dawson, 63, of Hale Carr Lane, Heysham has been charged with causing death by careless driving.
The case has now been committed to Preston Crown Court where both drivers will appear on February 25.
