The outgoing Head of Commercial at Morecambe FC says he ‘couldn’t be prouder’ after his departure from the club was announced.
The Shrimps have confirmed that Martin Thomas has left the Mazuma Mobile Stadium, after being in the role since 2019.
In a statement, the club said: ‘’We would like to thank Martin for his dedicated service and hard work at the Club since joining, having grown and developed the commercial department during his long period at Morecambe.
‘’Everybody at the club would like to place on record their thanks to Martin for all his efforts during his time with the Shrimps and wish him the best of luck for the future.’’
Martin played a key role in developing the relationship between the club and Beyond Radio, including in the deal that led to the station’s flagship commentary of every game, Shrimps Live, which has seen Beyond Radio as the club’s partner since 2021.
Writing on social media after the news was announced, Martin said: ‘’That’s a wrap.
‘’It’s hard to put into words what this place has meant to me. It’s been so much more than just a job, and together we’ve achieved something truly special.
‘’From 2019 to today, we’ve grown commercial revenue tenfold, and I couldn’t be prouder of the journey we’ve shared.''

‘’To the incredible staff I’ve had the pleasure to work alongside, thank you for your passion and commitment every single day. To the former board of directors, Ben Sadler, and all our commercial partners, your support has been invaluable.
‘’And to the fans - you are the lifeblood of this club. Thank you for every emotional moment we have shared along the way. Memories like Wembley and promotion to League One will stay with me forever.’’
Martin’s other notable achievements during his tenure include securing a long term naming rights deal when the then Globe Arena became the Mazuma Stadium in 2020, and Tyson Fury’s ‘Gypsy King’ brand sponsorship of both the men’s first team and Morecambe FC Women in 2022.
