A traffic lane has been closed on a main road between Morecambe and Lancaster while investigations are carried out into a problem with the drains.
A drainage team and County Highways staff were on Morecambe Road on Wednesday.
A short section of traffic lane was closed between near Summersgill Road and near Carlisle Bridge as investigations were carried out.
Traffic heading towards Lancaster was being diverted into the bus lane.
The temporary lane closure was expected to last until Thursday, said Lancashire County Council.
A spokesperson said: "They have apparently now identified a problem with a culvert which means we'll have to return in future to carry out repairs.
"The investigation work will go into tomorrow but we expect should be finished after that.
"The bus lane enforcement has been suspended while we do this work so nobody should be fined for entering the bus lane."
