MATCH REPORT: Lancaster City 1-1 Tadcaster Albion

Lancaster City will travel to Tadcaster Albion on Tuesday for an FA Cup first round qualifying replay after a second half equaliser for the visitors at the Giant Axe.

Sam Bailey's emphatic penalty had the Dollies deservedly ahead at half time, but after being pegged back with 15 minutes left to play, Lancaster couldn't find a winner, not helped by an outstanding goalkeeping display by Taddy shot stopper Harry Stead.

Manager Jimmy Marshall made four changes to the starting side from last weekend's outing, with Dylan Thompson and Charlie Bailey starting their first games since returning from the injuries that has kept them out of the season's opening.

Joe Amison and Steven Yawson also came into the XI.

The Dollies started as they meant to go on, with our effort being volleyed over the bar by Steven Yawson after controlling a cross on his chest from Thompson.

Thompson continued being the centre of proceedings, as he thought he'd opened the scoring after having a close range header cleared off the line.

Tadcaster goalkeeper Stead was a busy man in the opening 45, making two great saves in quick succession, firstly from Dylan Moonan, beating away the defender's top corner bound header, before also getting down quickly to push a low effort from C.Bailey past the post.

It didn't take too long for the Lancaster pressure to pay off. Jim Craig looked to control a ball dropping from the heavens in the Taddy penalty area, only to feel a foot in the back of his ankle which sent him to the floor. The referee promptly pointed to the penalty spot.

Dolly skipper Sam Bailey emphatically smashed the ball into the roof of the net to break the deadlock.

Lancaster kept the pressure up as the game creeped towards half time, after Craig and J.Bailey were denied by two fantastic close range saves from Stead with both efforts flying towards the bottom corner.

Opportunities would be a lot harder to come by after the break, with the Tadcaster defence beginning to tighten up. A seemingly goalbound effort on the half turn by J.Bailey was launched away from goal by Spencer Harris.

The Dollies would rue the missed opportunities, when the away side caught us on the break, with Oliver Green rounding Brad Kelly and slotting into the empty net to equalise

The Giant Axe tensed up even more seconds later, as Taddy fullback Adam Porritt whipped a 25 yard free kick onto the roof of the Lancaster net.

A S.Bailey long throw caused a bit of chaos before landing at the feet of Alfie Cunningham, who couldn't direct it on target, lofting just over the crossbar.

Nic Evangelinos was off the bench and joined the attack in response after returning from injury as Marshall's side attempted to seek out a late winner.
