A star of Coronation Street will appear in an acclaimed one-woman show telling the story of a peace activist who died trying to protect a family.
Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman in the ITV soap, stars in 'My Name is Rachel Corrie' at The Dukes on Saturday November 13 and Sunday November 14 at 7pm.
Rachel Corrie was a young idealist from Olympia, Washington - a lover of poetry, people and nature.
She travelled to Rafa as part of an international peace brigade, lived with Palestinian families, worked with children, and resisted the destruction of Palestinian homes and farms.
In March 2003, she lost her life when she placed herself between an Israeli army bulldozer and a Palestinian home.
'My Name is Rachel Corrie' tells this true story, in Rachel’s own words, taken from excerpts from her diaries and from her many emails home, and edited together by the late Alan Rickman and now-editor of The Guardian, Katharine Viner.
The multi-award winning play premiered at the Royal Court in 2005, and has subsequently been performed all over the world.
This production, from political theatre collective Take Back, made its Manchester premiere at 53TWO in March 2026 to 5-star reviews, and is written and directed by Ian Kershaw (Coronation Street, Shameless).
