Fire crews are likely to spend the rest of the week dealing with the blaze that has destroyed the former A1 Supa Skips site in Lancaster.
They have been at the Lune Industrial Estate since the alarm was raised early on Sunday morning.

From Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, Area Manager Matt Hamer has provided an update for the on-going incident.
‘’Firefighting operations continue at this large building fire containing approximately 13,000 tonnes of commercial waste,’’ he said.
‘’The building itself is structurally unsafe and presents several hazards to emergency responders.
‘’We are continuing to firefight and work with the Environment Agency to mitigate any impact to the environment from water run off.
‘’The seat of the fire is beneath large quantities of compact commercial waste and pockets of fire can continue to smoulder deep within the piles for a long time.
‘’As a result, the fire continues to produce a smoke plume and residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed.
‘’Several road closures remain in place including Europa Way, and access to the industrial estate is limited.
‘’With emergency operations expected to continue for several more days, members of the public can assist by staying away from the area. This is for their own safety and to avoid hampering operations.
‘’We continue to work with partner agencies to bring this incident to a safe conclusion as quickly as possible and to keep disruption to residents and businesses to a minimum.
‘’I would like to thank residents and businesses for their continued support.’’
A major incident was declared earlier this year following other fires at the former skip hire site and power station, and a multi-agency task force the Lancashire Resilience Forum, including the Environment Agency, Lancashire County Council, Lancaster City Council, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Lancashire Police, was set up.
Cat Smith, MP for Lancaster, was among those calling for urgent action to clear the site due to concerns over the state of the building, premises and waste, and has been asking for help from the Government.
A1 Supa Skips Ltd went into administration in April 2022 and in November 2022, the Environment Agency announced they had removed their site permit.
