Bomb disposal team called after WW2 mortar found in Lancaster

A bomb disposal team has been called out after the discovery of a Second World War mortar in Lancaster.

The bomb squad were at Rigg Lane car park in Quernmore on Sunday morning.

“An Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was deployed to Quernmore, Lancaster, on Sunday 31 August following a request from Lancashire Constabulary to investigate a suspicious item," said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence.
