A home builder working on a new housing development at the gateway to Lancaster is offering community groups the chance to bid for a share of £2000.
Northstone, builders of the new 70-home Breacla development currently being created on Scotforth Road on the edge of the city, is inviting organisations to submit applications to its Community Fund.
The applications can be from any charity, or community group in the area, including schools and could be for anything from revitalising a youth centre with a much-needed garden makeover, rejuvenating a neglected children’s play area, or restoring unkempt and rundown sports facilities.
Additionally, nominations may extend to local youth groups such as the Girl Guides, Scouts or church groups who are trying to raise money to enhance their facilities in the community.
Applications close on February 13.
“Being a responsible homebuilder we identify lots of ways we can support the communities in which we build and have this in place from the get go, and I am delighted to say that this is the third time that we have given local groups the opportunity to come to us and say we would love the money for X, Y and Z, which makes it all the more special," said Chrissie Bramhall, Communities Manager for Northstone.
“There are so many groups and organisations at the heart of the community in Lancaster and surrounding areas, many of which are close to the hearts of our residents at Breacla and that have a truly beneficial impact on their day to day lives.
“We are hoping to receive applications from all kinds of groups from schools to bowling clubs, youth groups, dance schools, baby and toddler classes, residential homes and charities, to name just a few. All of the applications will be looked at individually and while it will be a very tough decision, we can’t wait to announce the winner.”
Since moving onto site, Northstone has donated towards Lancaster BID’s toy appeal as well as sponsoring the annual show by The Performance School in Lancaster.

Northstone is also inviting homebuyers and the local community to attend the official opening of its newest show home at the Breacla development on Saturday February 28, from 10am to 4pm.
Anita Jolley, Sales and Marketing Director at Northstone said: “Breacla has already proven popular with buyers looking for high-quality homes in Lancaster and we’re excited to now introduce our largest ever home design at the development. The TwentyThree00 offers incredible space and flexibility, making it perfect for modern family life whilst also being aesthetically stunning to look at too."
Northstone said they aim to challenge outdated perceptions of new-build housing, delivering design-led, sustainable homes in desirable locations, creating each home with community living, green space and modern lifestyles in mind.
