Christmas lights will return to Morecambe town centre for a longer extended period, it has been announced.
Organisers Morecambe BID (Business Improvement District) said their Christmas Light Cones will be on display from the end of October until February 2025.
Known as 'The Morecambe Sparkle Illuminations', the lights have been organised by the BID and paid for by town centre businesses for the past few years.
"By bringing them in early, we aim to boost winter footfall and add some festive cheer to the season," said a Morecambe BID spokesperson.
"We’re here to support the growth and vibrancy of Morecambe."
The news had a positive response on the Morecambe BID Facebook page.
"They are lovely, children love to see them," said Diane, and Karen said: "Love running past them on dark mornings."
Each business within the BID zone of Morecambe town centre pays 1.5 per cent of their rateable value into a funding pot once a year.
The BID is a private company that spends money raised from this levy on improvements to the town centre, including the Christmas lights.
