Morecambe fans are being encouraged to join a minute’s applause for our much-loved colleague Adam Stutchbury, who passed away last month aged 22.
Supporters can clap in the 22nd minute of this evening’s game with Oxford United at the Mazuma Stadium, in tribute of Adam, who overcame quadriplegic cerebral palsy to follow his dreams of becoming a radio presenter.
Inspirational Adam was a big fan of the Shrimps, and we would encourage all fans heading to the game tonight to join in the applause.
Morecambe FC Co-Chairman Rod Taylor said: ‘’I was contacted with the suggestion of applause in the 22nd minute in recognition of Adam. I hope you will all join in this tribute.’’
Adam, who went to The Loyne School in Lancaster and then on to Beaumont College, had a warm personality and was very kind and considerate. He enjoyed organising charity events to raise money for the college, as well as Alex House and Cancer Research.
Adam also took part in events such as the St John's Hospice Colour Dash and Bubble Rush, and the Great Manchester Run, and proudly represented Beyond Radio at many local events and festivals.
Adam was with Beyond Radio from the very beginning, joining in 2016. He was very ambitious and hard-working, and never allowed his disability to stop him from doing what he wanted to do.
"Adam worked hard to overcome his challenges to do something he loved, presenting on Beyond Radio," said Duncan Moore, volunteer co-ordinator at Beyond Radio.
"He was a great advocate for the station and also fundraised for us in the early days of our development.
"Adam was always the first to step up when a call went out for support."
Most people will also remember Adam as being fun-loving, enjoying a party and for his wicked sense of humour.
He is very much missed by everyone at the station.
