The Midland Hotel in Morecambe

Firefighters were called on Friday morning to a fire at the Midland Hotel in Morecambe.

Three fire engines attended the iconic art deco hotel on Morecambe seafront on June 12.

The fire was extinguished and owners the Inn Collection Group said there was no damage to the hotel, which remains open.

"At 7:31 on 12 June 2026 three fire engines from Morecambe and Lancaster attended a commercial property fire on Marine Road, Morecambe," said a Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.

"Crews used one fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and 45 minutes."

A spokesperson for owners the Inn Collection Group said: "There was a small fryer fire in the kitchen this morning at The Midland.

"There is no damage to the hotel, we remain full open to customers and food service will resume at noon today."

The Midland opened in 1933 to the designs of architect Oliver Hill. It was refurbished by design company Urban Splash and reopened in 2008 after a period of closure. The hotel was bought by the Inn Collection Group in 2022.
