A fundraiser said he is "disgusted" after vandals damaged a tree planted at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Steve Trainor spoke to Beyond Radio after the vandalism to the pussy willow tree outside the Ashton Road clinic, which happened some time over the weekend.
The tree was paid for by Steve, donations from the Morecambe Poppyscatter group, and Shadaba Ahmed, an ear, nose and throat consultant at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. It was planted on June 1 to mark the Queen's 70-year reign.
"I'm absolutely disgusted," said Steve.
"Someone has deliberately climbed into the bed, used some force and snapped it. Even if it hadn't have been donated, it's still disgusting vandalism.

"I hope I've salvaged it, if not I'll replace it. I've put four stakes in and cable ties around it to try to get it to sew back together.
"If somebody had tripped and fallen and it had been accidental, I'd have understood it. But it's definitely deliberate. They've stamped on it, the base of the trunk has snapped. It was lying on the floor."
The incident has been reported to the police. If you have any information please call police on 101 or 0800 555111 quoting log number LC-202207140414.
