A key organisation which supports and advocates the arts across the Lancaster district has appointed new co-chairs to drive their ambitions further forward.
Lancaster District Arts Partnership is a network of leading arts and cultural organisations working together to enhance the cultural life, reputation, and economic prosperity of the area through ambitious programming, joint advocacy, and shared resource development.
They’ve announced the appointment of Marianne Barraclough, Executive Director of More Music in Morecambe, and Chris Lawson, Artistic Director of The Dukes in Lancaster.
They take the reins from Julie Brown, Executive Director of imitating the dog, who has steered the partnership with distinction for the past three years.
Marianne Barraclough and Chris Lawson will lead LDAP in its mission to champion and develop the vibrant arts and cultural sector across the Lancaster District, fostering collaboration and maximising the impact of the arts on the local community and economy.
Marianne Barraclough brings a wealth of experience in community-focused arts, known for her dedication to ensuring music and creativity are accessible to all. Under her leadership, More Music is thriving, with a busy and accessible programme of participatory experiences, alongside a calendar of excellent, distinctive gigs and festivals.
“I’m delighted to step into this role alongside Chris,” said Marianne.
“Lancaster District has an incredibly rich and diverse cultural landscape. I look forward to building on Julie’s fantastic work, ensuring LDAP truly reflects the energy and ambition of our sector and continues to advocate for the crucial role of the arts in our communities.”
Chris Lawson, celebrated for his innovative programming and commitment to nurturing local talent at The Dukes, is a significant voice in regional theatre and film. His vision for the role of arts institutions in civic life makes him a powerful advocate for the district.
“It's an honour to Co-Chair LDAP with Marianne,” commented Chris.
“This is a pivotal moment for arts and culture, and by working together, from Morecambe to Lancaster, we can ensure our district remains a thriving hub of creativity, offering unforgettable experiences and driving positive change for all our residents and visitors.”
Under the leadership of Julie Brown, LDAP strengthened its collective voice, navigated the challenges of recent years, and continued to advocate effectively for its members. Julie will remain on the partnership committee.
Julie added: "It has been a privilege to Chair LDAP and work alongside such talented and committed colleagues. I know Marianne and Chris will bring fresh energy and vision to the role, and I wish them every success as they lead LDAP into its next exciting chapter."
