Reform UK have won seven out of 10 of the Lancashire County Council seats in the Lancaster and Morecambe District.
In a huge shake up in local politics, the relatively new party won the majority of seats available in our local area.
Gary Kniveton, Brian Moore, Graeme Austin, Graham Dalton, Russell Walsh, Shaun Cummins and Martyn Sutton were all elected to the county council.
The result was echoed across Lancashire as Reform won overall control of the county council from the Conservatives.
Reform won 53 of the 84 available seats, as the Conservatives were reduced from 46 seats to eight and Labour went down to just five seats in the county.
The other three seats locally were won by the Greens, increasing their number of overall seats on the county council.
County Councillor Gina Dowding of the Greens was the only councillor to retain her seat in the Lancaster and Morecambe District.
Councillors losing their seats included the former leader of the county council, Conservative Phillippa Williamson, and her fellow Conservatives Charlie Edwards, Matthew Maxwell-Scott, Stuart Morris and Andrew Gardiner.
Labour councillors Jean Parr, Margaret Pattison and Dr Erica Lewis also lost their seats.
LANCASHIRE RESULTS
In other results, Wilson Colley of the Greens won the Lancaster City Council by-election in John O'Gaunt ward in Lancaster, and John Bates of the Liberal Democrats won a by-election in Torrisholme ward on Morecambe Town Council.
