A Carnforth charity shop has given more than £201,000 to community groups across the Lancaster and Morecambe district - including Beyond Radio.
The 3R Foundation Charity Shop, located on Lancaster Road in Carnforth, opened in February 2023 and raises funds by encouraging people to Recycle, Reuse and Rehome (3R) their unwanted items.
Donations are resold through the shop, with all profits used to provide grants to grassroots organisations and projects that benefit the local community.
The initiative was started by Paul and Sue Calland of Treble3 Design and Print, alongside a dedicated team of volunteers and trustees.
Their aim was to create a simple, sustainable way for the local community to support smaller groups that often struggle to access traditional funding.
Since opening its doors, the shop has become a true community effort, with residents donating items, volunteering their time and supporting the shop through their purchases. This collective support has enabled the 3R Foundation to fund 389 groups delivering activities and services across the area.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support from the local community," said Paul Calland from the 3R Foundation.
"By simply donating items they no longer need or shopping in the store, people are helping turn unwanted goods into funding that supports hundreds of local groups doing fantastic work across Lancaster, Morecambe and the surrounding area.”
The foundation is currently receiving a large number of new grant applications and is encouraging the public to continue supporting the shop so that even more funding can be distributed locally.
Members of the public can support the project by donating good quality items, visiting the shop, or spreading the word.
Every item donated or purchased helps turn unwanted goods into practical support for local community groups.
Recently, Julie Sloan from 3R Charity visited the Beyond Radio studio to donate £399 to us for a new laptop to use on Beyond Radio outside broadcasts.
