Fire crews are continuing to deal with a ‘challenging incident’ at the former A1 Supa Skips site in Lancaster.
They have been at Port Royal Avenue on the Lune Industrial Estate since the alarm was raised early yesterday morning.

The tackling of the blaze – confirmed by the Fire Service to be inside the premises of the former A1 Supa Skips – remains ongoing.
Incident Commander Station Manager Matt Armstrong, has provided an update.
‘’We currently have a number of fire appliances in attendance, and an aerial ladder platform still fighting the fire,’’ he said.
‘’Please continue to keep your windows and doors closed. There is a large smoke plume that keeps changing direction, so please continue to avoid the area.
‘’There is an amount of business disruption and we ask people to take into account that it is a challenging incident.’’
A major incident was declared earlier this year following other fires at the former skip hire site and power station, and a multi-agency task force the Lancashire Resilience Forum, including the Environment Agency, Lancashire County Council, Lancaster City Council, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Lancashire Police, was set up.
Cat Smith, MP for Lancaster, was among those calling for urgent action to clear the site due to concerns over the state of the building, premises and waste, and has been asking for help from the Government.
A1 Supa Skips Ltd went into administration in April 2022 and in November 2022, the Environment Agency announced they had removed their site permit.
