Four months of roadworks to reduce flood risk on the M6 between Lancaster and Kendal are under way.
National Highways are carrying our work to improve safety barriers and drainage on the motorway.
They will be repairing the drainage system, clearing blockages and improving the southbound roadside verge.
A series of daytime and overnight lane closures between south of junction 34 (Halton) and junction 36 (Crooklands) began on Monday.
A National Highways spokesperson said the closures will be carried out in phases to reduce disruption.
The motorway will be open at all times but at a reduced capacity.
The work is being carried out as follows:

Overnight lane closures in both directions.
