Police are investigating after youths caused extensive damage at a children's nursery in Morecambe.
Four youths were seen running away from Lancaster Road Nursery garden on Sunday evening, after a fire was lit melting a children's slide and causing damage to newly-laid flooring and other items.
The culprits had tipped over equipment used by the young children who attend the nursery, and thrown paint over the floor.
"On Sunday evening around 4.45pm Mrs Pyne popped along to nursery to complete some jobs in the garden, on arrival she found a small fire in rainbow garden under the shelter and four youths running away over the school field towards Cartmel Place," said a post on the Lancaster Road Nursery Facebook page.
"Luckily Mr and Mrs Pyne managed to put the fire out and called the police, the fire brigade attend along with the police to investigate.
"A slide was melted in the fire along with chair, the new soft flooring we had just put down, a table, bike and various other items. Leaving the floor damaged too.
"They had also thrown items around the garden, tipped things over and thrown fence paint over the floor.

"The staff were very upset in arriving Monday morning to learn of this as they have worked hard to provide an exciting learning environment for the children and had lots more planned. These plans are on hold now will we can secure the gardens more.
"If anyone has any information then please contact the police."

A further post on Wednesday said: "We would like to say a big thank you to everyone for their support and words of encouragement it’s been a big boost to the staff!
"We are currently on with starting an Amazon wish list like some of you suggested for some new bikes and scooters.
"Also we are looking into heightening the gates at the end, extra CCTV, anti vandal paint, and super strong metal storage sheds to store the toys in, before we can look at enhancing the gardens with the wooden resources."
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Lancaster Road, Morecambe on June 2 at 4:50pm to a report of criminal damage. Enquiries are ongoing."
