During this pandemic it is either impossible or you may feel apprehensive to go abroad for a holiday this year. This forces us to look to what is close by and around us.
Sometimes when we lounge on vacation in Spain or Italy, we forget that we can find something equally as good or maybe even better so close by.
An unorthodox but interesting piece of Britain you could consider to spend your holiday in this year is Lancashire. Let us go through some of the fun things you can do to spice up your pandemic vacation.
The Singing Ringing Tree - Burnley
The Singing Ringing Tree is a three-metre-tall structure made from galvanised steel pipes. The pipes are shaped in a curved fashion as if the wind has helped shape it. When the wind blows around it, it will emit an ominous and yet beautiful sound. It can produce tones between several octaves that can both emit disconcerting and beautiful harmonies all at once.
It is a beautiful piece of modern art that actively seeks to give you an experience when you visit it.
Holden Wood Antiques - Rossendale
Do you like antiques? We certainly do! Having an object in your possession of considerable age is mesmerizing. Imagine all the stories it can tell.
If you decide to visit Lancashire, you should stop by Holden Wood Antiques. The antique store is situated in an old church that has been moved stone by stone from its original location. What an undertaking.
They have antiques of all kinds, and if you are interested in militaria, they have an entire section just for that. Definitely worth a look.
Carnforth Railway Station – Carnforth, North Lancashire
David Lean’s film “Brief Encounter” from 1944 takes place in London. But during the war, they obviously could not film such an ambitious film in the capital where German bombers could reach.
So, they travelled to a more remote and inconspicuous location to film the iconic movie: Carnforth Railway Station. The station remains as it was back during the filming process, so you can experience every little detail in the flesh. The movie also plays at the station 24/7 as an homage to the pivotal role it was afforded.
The David Lean heritage museum is also situated there, so you can dive deeper into the life of this iconic movie producer.
Lancashire Has More than Meets the Eye

So, get off the couch, put spin online casino on hold for a moment, pack your bags and head to one of Britain’s forgotten jewels: Lancashire. There truly is more to explore than meets the eye.
