An inquest has been held into the tragic death of a baby girl who died at the age of just two weeks old.
Nevada Aislabie was born in Lancaster on October 4 2023, to parents Terri and Downes Aislabie. She was healthy and growing well, with no medical issues, and on the evening of October 16 she fell asleep after a feed.
Later that night she was found face down and unresponsive. Paramedics were called but Nevada was sadly pronounced dead.
At an inquest held this week at Preston Coroners' Court, Assistant Coroner Laura Fox returned a narrative conclusion.
She said: "Baby Nevada was a much loved child who was growing well and had no underlying health concerns. On the evening of the 16th October 2023, she fed as usual and was laid on a sofa.
"She was found later face down and unresponsive. An ambulance was called but resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
"It is not possible to determine the cause of Nevada's death, but she had no injuries or underlying illness which could account for her death.’’
After Nevada's death her family set up a memorial webpage and raised money for The Lullaby Trust, a charity who aim to keep babies safe by funding life-saving research, empowering families with expert baby safety advice and supporting grieving families through their darkest days.
