The leader of Lancaster City Council has told Beyond Radio she feels like "dancing in the streets" with joy at news that the Eden Project in Morecambe has been given the thumbs up.
Councillor Caroline Jackson spoke to Beyond Radio as the government confirmed £50m of Levelling Up funding to ensure the scheme goes ahead.
"This is such a wonderful restart for Morecambe," said Councillor Jackson.
"We seem to have been waiting for a long time and now it's happened, it's fantastic.
"I think this is the biggest thing to happen in the district for decades.
"I think it's bringing hope to Morecambe. It's bringing interest and excitement to the whole Lancaster district, and I think it's going to be the remaking of Morecambe.
"People are already saying 'I want to go to Eden' and it hasn't even been built yet!
"I'm very proud to have been part of it and very pleased to be here at such a historic momentous moment for us as a district."
