We’ve been talking to the people behind a local project aimed at promoting all the positive aspects of Morecambe.
We Love Morecambe is a Community Interest Company (CIC), with the goal of bringing together various stakeholders, including the community, businesses, residents, charities, and educators, to showcase the strengths and benefits of Morecambe for both residents and visitors.
Click here to listen to our chat with Tarnia Elsworth, Garry Owen and Ruth Wilkinson from We Love Morecambe:
Their aim is create a ‘shop front’, to highlight the positive aspects of the area and create a sense of unity and pride in the community, whilst working as a collective to ensure we increase the opportunities for all and the all-important visitor footfall to our beautiful bay.
As well as a website, there is also the highly popular We Love Morecambe Facebook group, which has thousands of members in it.
The organisation also hold community meetings for people to come and talk to them and receive updates on what they’ve been doing, and also to gather ideas and thoughts, as ultimately it’s a community effort, run by volunteers who all work together.
There will soon be a local business directory on their website, with the group working with Morecambe BID, so there is no crossover with efforts to move tourist information away from visitor centres to online.
