Labour wins city council by-election in Carnforth

Councillor Jackson Stubbs

Labour has won a by-election for a seat in Carnforth and Millhead ward on Lancaster City Council.

Jackson Stubbs won the vote in the by-election, which was announced on Friday.

The full result was:

Jackson Stubbs (Labour) 644 votes ELECTED

Peter Yates (Conservatives) 454 votes

Emily Heath (Green Party) 194 votes

Lynda Dagdeverin (Liberal Democrats) 69 votes

The seat was vacant following the death of Labour councillor Paul Gardner.

Labour councillors hold all three seats in Carnforth and Millhead, with Councillor Stubbs joining Chris Hanna and Louise Belcher.

Labour remains the largest group on Lancaster City Council, where there is no overall majority and the council cabinet is made up of a cross-party coalition of Labour, Green and Liberal Democrat councillors.
