Lancaster and Morecambe College has announced a £2 million funding boost for its T-Level provision.
All Further Education colleges who are delivering new T Levels in 2023 and 2024 were invited to submit bids to the T Level Capital Buildings and Facilities Improvement Grant. LMC was successful in its bid, being awarded just under £2,000,000.
The funding will help develop specialist teaching spaces and the complete refurbishment of 2 existing science laboratories, which will be used to deliver T Levels in Health and Animal Management, and a new Level 3 Forensic Science qualification. A further £214,000 has been granted to LMC for procurement of specialist equipment, including digital and IT resources.
LMC’s Principal & CEO, Wes Johnson, was pleased to receive notice of the funding allocation this week.

T Levels offer a highly desirable alternative to A Levels, and a significant number of young people are taking up this exciting new opportunity across the country. This additional funding support will help create cutting edge, industry standard learning spaces for our students who will be inspired and supported by our fantastic staff teams.

This latest investment is in addition to the recent funding the College received to create a clinical & health skills ward, CAD suites and fully immersive VR hub, all of which allow learners to develop crucial skills and knowledge, ensuring that they leave LMC with a wide range of “work ready” skills and behaviours. The clinical skills ward was opened earlier this year by Ray Olive, Chair of the National T Level Ambassador Network, and has already provided the College’s Health & Social Care students with the opportunity to practice key skills within a realistic work environment.

These are robust, high quality technical qualifications providing a unique ladder of opportunity for students to gain both classroom knowledge and on-the-job experience.
‘’From robotics suites that support digital T Levels to simulated health wards where students can get a real sense of what it means to work in Healthcare Science, T Levels will support young people into rewarding careers and back businesses with the skills of the future.”
