A dance artist and director from Lancaster has received the MBE.
Helen Gould attended the ceremony at Windsor Castle, after being awarded the MBE for charitable services to people with Parkinson’s in the King’s Birthday Honours in the summer.
Helen is a dance artist, movement director, project manager and performer, and co-founder of LPM Dance, a company who provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to experience the power of dance.
Helen, who was accompanied by her partner and two children at the ceremony, said: "I'm extremely grateful and humbled to have been nominated for such a prestigious award.
‘’I'm exceptionally lucky to work with a committed, talented and passionate group of colleagues and members of the Parkinson's community, all of whom contribute significantly to the work, so this recognition really does feel like reward for a team effort."
"I also hope this award shines a light on the value of community dance and the integral role arts and culture play in healthy societies.
‘’I remain committed to supporting our Lancashire communities to access dance opportunities, the impact of which can influence social change locally, regionally, nationally and internationally."
Helen co-founded LPM Dance in 2011, together with business partner, George Adams.
George added: "I really don't know what to say except to say how well-deserved this is. I have always found Helen to be splendiferous.
‘’Her loving nature, hard work and determination is a gift."
