A Lancaster charity has begun a fundraising campaign to hold a young people's fair to launch their new centre.
Escape2Make (E2M) is set to open its brand new creative, free space for young people in Lancaster, due to open in early 2025.
Nearly 100 hours of free workshops for 11-18-year-olds will take place in February half term, supporting young people to learn new creative skills, make friends, and create things that will bring the new space to life.
Each workshop will lead to items that will become part of the new E2M Space, and activities that will be showcased at a youth-led E2M Fair event, open to the community, on Saturday February 22 2025.
A Crowdfunding campaign has been launched on Spacehive to support the project, and has so far raised more than £1800.
Earlier this year, E2M received a £221,400 boost towards its plans for a young people's centre in the city.
The charity was offered three years of funding from the National Lottery to open a ‘test site’ for a creative youth space in Lancaster, likely to be inside an empty shop unit in the city centre.
Last year, Escape2Make revealed their long-term goal to establish a permanent building in the heart of the city's Canal Quarter area.
Designs, produced by young people from our district aged 11-18, showed how the Old Brewery in Lancaster could be transformed into a dynamic hub for youngsters in the future. (See one of the images below).

An E2M spokesperson said: "Escape2Make believe that all young people deserve access to high quality creative learning experiences and spaces where they are truly safe and welcome.
"Having delivered over 500 free creative workshops for over 1,000 11-18-year-olds in Lancaster and Morecambe, E2M are on the verge of establishing their first dedicated, creative youth space.
"To celebrate this, and to support young people to take ownership of the space, we will run 28 free workshops, supporting young people to learn new creative skills, make friends, and create things that will bring the new space to life.
"Over February half term, 125 young people can take part in hands-on, offline activities led by professional artists, which may include upcycling furniture, making ceramic plant pots, sustainable textile design and mural painting.
"Each workshop will lead to items that will become part of the new E2M Space, and activities that will be showcased at a youth-led E2M Fair event, open to the community, on Sat 22/2/2025."
