A Lancaster firm will celebrate its 100th birthday with the unveiling of a heritage plaque, a search for memories from a century in business and a facelift for its iconic clock.
Printing company Standfast & Barracks on Caton Road will celebrate its centenary in April of this year.
To mark the occasion, local heritage group Lancaster Civic Vision is helping Standfast & Barracks to unveil a plaque on its iconic clock tower in June.
In readiness for the occasion, the clock and four clock faces will be refurbished, fully working again and lit at night.
The clock was designed by Lancastrian Edward Paley and is Grade 2 listed. The building work started in 1863 and was completed in 1864.⠀⠀
Lancaster Civic Vision is also looking for memories, photographs and memorabilia from people who worked at the company during its history.
Standfast & Barracks has operated from the site on Caton Road since its inception, and has grown into a multi-million pound business printing over one million metres of exquisite fabric a year.
It counts many of the world’s leading designers, including brands such as Sanderson, Zoffany and Morris and Co amongst its clients.
In 2020 the firm was the winners of the Queens Award for Enterprise: International Trade and last year, welcomed Catherine, Princess of Wales, for a visit.

David Morgan of Lancaster Civic Vision said: "That a company can trade successfully for 100 years is impressive on its own, the fact that it internationally acclaimed with a multi-million pound turnover and based in Lancaster redoubles the need for celebrations.
"We are calling for current and ex-employees who have memories or memorabilia – either their own or of members of their family – to contact us in order that we can build up a time-line of the company over their 100 years that can be exhibited as part of their celebrations later in the year."
