A prison officer from Lancaster is through to the final of the Miss England beauty contest.
Melissa Butcher said she was "overwhelmed" to reach the final to be held in Wolverhampton on May 16 and 17, after getting through the semi-final in Blackpool last weekend.
"I am so overwhelmed by all the love and support I have received these last couple of months on the lead up to the semi final of Miss England and couldn’t be more grateful to all my friends, family and locals for voting and helping me reach the top three in the public vote!" said Melissa, 24, posting on Facebook.
The winner of Miss England 2024 will go forward to the 72nd Miss World to be held next Spring.
In entering the competition, Melissa said interesting facts about herself are that she works in the prison service, eats three cucumbers a day, and can walk better on her hands than on her feet! (See her video below).
As a Miss England contestant, Melissa is raising funds for 'Balls to Cancer', a charity which supports people who are dealing with cancer.
