Services at Lancaster railway station have been hit by cancellations and lengthy delays due to a broken-down train.
Rail operator Northern said the train broke down between Preston and Lancaster, and that some lines were blocked.
They said train services running through these stations on Friday would be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes - although some delays were longer.
Avanti West Coast said the issue was due to a fault with a train, and that some services would be diverted.
Services travelling through Lancaster to Edinburgh, Glasgow Central, London Euston, Manchester Airport and Barrow-in-Furness were all affected on Friday.
Passengers were advised to check before travelling.
