Lancaster samba drummers have paid tribute to a caring and compassionate band leader who has died after a brave battle with cancer.
David Sole was Batala Lancaster's Bass section leader for many years.
David, who died on July 5, "embodied everything which Batala is about", said a post on the drumming group's Facebook page.
"His tireless care, support and compassion have had a lasting impact on Batala Lancaster.
"We have many happy memories drumming with David in Lancaster, Notting Hill Carnival and Encontro Nantes 2013.
"We will be drumming for him this weekend and invite the Batala family to join with us to celebrate his life."

A celebration of David's life will be held at Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium on Monday July 17 at 12.30pm followed by The Storey in Lancaster.
All guests are invited to wear bright, vibrant colours.
Donations can be made to Rainbow Trust or the RSPB in memory of David.
