A video by a Lancaster singer-songwriter highlighting the dangers of busking has been viewed more than a million times on TikTok.
Carlie Mai Doherty uploaded the video to the social media platform to show her fans the kind of things that can happen while busking. The video shows Carlie Mai performing on Cheapside in Lancaster city centre with her musical partner, drummer Marc Holland, when a member of the public approaches and tries to grab her microphone, one of a number of times that she was harassed that day.
The video ends with her visibly upset by what has happened.
Now, the video has gone viral, with current more than 1.2 million views.
19-year-old Carlie Mai said: ‘’I uploaded this purely for awareness on what us buskers have to go through, considering how hard we work, never would I have thought it would reach this!
‘’Thank you to everyone who has supported me and what I do in the past couple of days, (I) wouldn’t get through without you.
‘’I’m so overwhelmed.’’
Carlie Mai regularly performs across Lancaster and Morecambe. You can follow her on all of her social channels, or find out more on her website, by clicking here
