A Morecambe running group which has transformed lives has won Club of the Year and Coach of the Year awards for the third year running.
Morecambe Community Runners, run by Stuart Nevin, were finalists at the Active Lancashire Awards, recognised for the life-changing work they do.
They won two awards for the Lancaster District for the third consecutive year, then attended the Active Lancashire awards ceremony earlier this month.
Stuart set up Morecambe Community Runners (MCR) five years ago to help get people off their couches and into running.
MCR is a fully inclusive running group in the community for all ages and abilities, running beginners' Couch to 5K programmes.
MCR has already helped hundreds of people, who thought they'd never be able to run, to achieve their goals. Some have gone on to run marathons and even further distances.
The team are currently looking forward to their next Couch 2 5K completion in a few week's time, and their end of year charity fundraising Elf Run, as well as their 2025 races which include ultramarathons, Ironmans, and the MCR half and full marathon.
Classes are free and take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6.30pm at The Battery. All welcome.
The Active Lancashire organisation inspires people and places in the county to reach their full potential through sport and physical
Their 22nd awards were held at Crow Wood Hotel, Burnley, on Friday November 15.
