Railway lines north of Preston have reopened following a train derailment on the West Coast Main Line.
Avanti West Coast said services have resumed as of the beginning of Wednesday, and lines have reopened between Penrith North Lakes and Oxenholme Lake District.
This follows repair work being completed, said a spokesperson for the train company.
Services to and from Blackpool, Lancaster, Oxenholme, Penrith, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell, Glasgow, Haymarket, and Edinburgh have been affected since the train derailment on Monday morning.
The train involved was travelling from Glasgow Central to London Euston when the driver reported hitting an object, causing the front carriage to derail at around 6.10am.
No passengers were hurt in the incident, and all were evacuated from the train to a nearby hotel and then sent by road to their destinations.
Network Rail engineers have been working with the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) to determine the cause of the derailment. It followed a suspected landslip that occurred in the area.
Avanti West Coast said that if you abandoned your journey as a result of the disruption, you can claim a fee-free refund of your unused ticket from where you bought it.
If you continued with your journey but were delayed by 15 minutes or more, you can claim Delay Repay compensation from the train company you were booked to travel with
