A long-time security doorman has turned fantasy adventure novellist with the release of his first book.
Jake Clark has released 'Crimson Rebellion: Legacy of Power' as the first of a three-part series.
Jake, who worked the doors on the night-time scene in our local area for more than 15 years, said he'd never read a book in full before deciding to write his own.
He then taught himself every aspect of the self-publishing process, from developing the characters to designing the front cover.
"I started fleshing out the book idea shortly after my dad passed away," said Jake.
"He was a big reader. Then I benched the book project for a few years as I focussed on my business and other such life things.
"I picked it back up about eight months ago.
"I have never read a full book before in complete honesty so it was quite the challenge.
"I didn't understand how to format it or anything. I had to learn and teach myself almost every aspect of creating/publishing a book/story, character development, world building (there's a world map within the book itself), designing the characters (featured in the book too), designing the front cover myself and many other elements of the publishing process.
"I just enjoy the creative side of the process, more than anything else and want people to lose themselves in my story."
Jake previously part-owned Ei Security and now owns Ei Marketing, where he specialises in DOOH (Digital Out of Home) display advertising.
Crimson Rebellion: Legacy of Power tells the story of the vibrant land of Able.
Change stirs beneath the surface as Chancellor Vexar's long-standing rule begins to waver, as beneath the shadows of oppression, whispers of resistance start to take shape.
The Crimson Rebellion—an alliance of leaders from Able’s four unique cultures: Makers, Movers, Shifters, and Collectors— unite with one goal in mind: to challenge Vexar's dark authority.
The book is described as a "journey of discovery, courage, and friendship".
It is available in hardcover, paperback and e book formats. You can buy it from Amazon HERE.
