A man has been arrested on suspicion of riding a motorbike while under the influence of drink and drugs on the beach at Heysham.
The Morecambe man, 33, was arrested and was in custody after the police and the coastguard were called to the incident on Tuesday evening.
A police spokesperson said: "We were called around 9.05pm to a report of a concern for safety in Morecambe.
"It was reported a man and woman had got into difficulty riding a motorbike on the beach close to Sandylands Promenade.
"The coastguard initially attended the incident, followed by police, with the man and woman later walking off the beach."
Morecambe lifeboat crew was also called out at around the same time.
An RNLI spokesperson said the call-out was believed to be related to the motorbike incident, but had been treated as a separate incident.
"At 10:17pm (on Tuesday) Morecambe’s RNLI Hovercraft was deployed following a call to service.
"Coastguard requested the assistance of the RNLI to a report of several people stranded west of Oakley Road having been been cut off by the tide.
"A multi agency operation was undertaken working alongside the coastguard in the search and recovery of the stranded persons.
"We were only tasked to persons cut off by the tide and after a search there were no persons on the sands.
"A number of personal items were recovered which were handed over to the police on the shore.
"Once it was established following a further search that no one else was left behind, the hovercraft commanded by Ross Simpson returned with the crew back to shore at 12.30am."
Steve Wilson, Lifeboat Operations Manager, said: “We urge anyone going out on the sands to check the tide times. We have had several call-outs of late involving members of the public cut off by the tide. Whilst we always deploy as rapidly as we cannot stress enough about being cautious on the bay with its many hidden dangers”.
