The man who brought some of the biggest names in rock music history to perform at Lancaster University is looking for memories to include in a new edition of his book.
Barry Lucas, co-author of 'When Rock Went to College' with Paul Tomlinson, is looking to reprint the book featuring stories from university alumni and other fans who attended the shows in the '60s, '70s and '80s.
'When Rock Went to College' is the incredible tale of how Mr Lucas, then-entertainments manager of the university, booked some of the biggest names in rock music history to appear at the uni's Great Hall, and later the Sugarhouse venue.
Legends including The Who, Tina Turner (see photo below from the book), Paul McCartney, U2, Bob Marley and the Wailers and Pink Floyd all played at the university.

The book, launched in 2017, is an A-Z listing of the acts that performed there, along with the stories and recollections of Barry, from Morecambe, who was Britain’s first full time, professional university campus impresario.
The book is fully illustrated with colour concert posters of John Angus and previously unseen photographs by Geoff Campbell of bands on stage in The Great Hall.
If you have some memories you would like to share (and maybe some copies of memorabilia) to be considered for the next edition, please email barrylbarryl@aol.com
