Two talented youngsters capped off a successful weekend for local boxing as they became North West schoolboy champions.
Mason Barker and Josh Sharp were both victorious in their respective finals in the North West Region England Boxing Schools Championships in Manchester on Sunday (April 24).
Mason won in the 50kg category and Josh triumphed in the 41kg class. Both won unanimous decisions, with Josh giving his opponent a standing count in the first round.
They are now through to the quarter-finals of the national championships on May 8.
Both train at the Coastal Amateur Boxing Club on West End Road in Morecambe.
Frank Harrington, the ex-professional fighter who runs the club, thanked his team of trainers Bob Howard, Terry Mcloughlin, Jamie Wakeman, Dave Higham, Carl Squirrell, Ben Torkington and Charlie Howard.
The next Coastal Amateur Boxing show at the Red Rose Community Centre in Morecambe will be held this Friday night (April 29). Tickets available on the door.
