Morecambe Brass Band has qualified for the national finals after an excellent performance at the North West Championships.
The town's brass band finished second in the 3rd section of the North West Area Regional Brass Band Championships held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool at the weekend.
They were only beaten by Hawk Green band from Cheshire, and finished ahead of many other top bands from around the county, including from Formby, Bolton and Darwen.
Morecambe Brass Band celebrated this result with a post on their Facebook page, which said: "We are proud of the hard work that all the players have put in and especially the hard work and determination of our MD Andrew Porter."
The result was made all the more remarkable as the band had only recently been promoted to the 3rd section.
They achieved this after placing third out of 16 bands who qualified for the 4th section at the National Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham, held in September 2022.
