A Morecambe businessman is gearing up to go from 'couch to 110k' as he prepares to take on his first ultra marathon.
Simon Das had never before run more than 10 miles until he signed up to run a gruelling 70 mile course for a great cause.
Simon, who runs property firm 978 Finance based in Lancaster, will be raising money for Children with Cancer UK on 'The Wall' run from Carlisle to Gateshead this weekend.
"You’ve heard of couch to 10k, this is couch to 110k!" said Simon.
"I had never run more than 10 miles when I signed up and only run that distance once or twice before then.
"Let’s face it if these young people can battle such an unscrupulous condition often with a smile on their face, then I can get myself to the end of the 70 mile course."
Simon will be taking on the ultra marathon with his friend James Rogers.
For 35 years, Children with Cancer UK has funded research into the causes of childhood cancers, and the development of better, kinder treatments as well as funding initiatives that support children and their families through cancer treatment and beyond.
Their work has contributed significantly to a marked increase in childhood cancer survival rates and improved quality of life for patients.
At time of writing Simon has raised £465 towards a £750 target.
