A Morecambe charity helping disabled young people has announced its first ever international fundraising trip.
Unique Kidz & Co is organising a five-day trek across Iceland in summer 2026 and is encouraging supporters of the charity to sign up to take part.
The trip will begin on July 1 2026 and include three nights trekking through the Icelandic wilderness.
The charity, based at Woodhill Lane in Morecambe, was founded by two mums – Jane Halpin and Denise Armer - who couldn’t find suitable childcare for their own disabled children.
Unique Kidz & Co opened in 2009 with its first after school club, where 65 young people attended.
Now the charity has 187 disabled young people on their system and an ever-growing waiting list.
Its services now include afterschool, holiday and weekend clubs for children aged 5-19 with disabilities, a stay and play group for children under five, and daytime support and evening/weekend sessions for young adults aged 18-30 with disabilities.
Unique Kidz & Co is offering a 40 per cent discount on registration fees throughout January.
Jane Halpin said: “We’re so excited to be launching our first ever overseas fundraising challenge for Unique Kidz and Co.
"We hope that the Iceland trek will be an unforgettable trip and personal challenge for those that join us, but most importantly it’s a chance for them to make a difference to Unique Kidz, through raising awareness and funds for our charity to support the amazing young people with disabilities and their families.”
