A pop-up cafe will be running this week at a Morecambe church to help raise funds for work with Ukrainian refugees in Eastern Europe.
Stanley Road Baptist Church, in the West End of Morecambe, will be opening its doors from 10am to 2pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (April 12-14) with a range of snacks and main meals on the menu.
All the profits from the café, as well as from sales of hand-made cards, will go to BMS World Mission, an organisation that is helping fund churches in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.
Rev. Steven Hewitt, pastor at Stanley Road Baptist Church, said: “Churches that are similar to us are now being used as hostels and reception centres for thousands of refugees, offering food, clothing and accommodation.
“We want to do what we can to help and by raising money we will enable these churches to keep going. Sadly, it seems like they will be needed for some time yet.”
