A medical practice in Morecambe says its new online appointment booking option will "reduce wait times" over the telephone.
Bay Medical Group is bringing in a new digital system from January 22 giving people wanting to see a doctor the option of filling in an online form.
The group, which runs GP sites at Morecambe, West End, Westgate, Heysham and York Bridge, says they can still be contacted by telephone and the new online method is an "alternative" to "make it more convenient than waiting in a queue".
"We have listened to your concerns about not being able to get through on the phones and the limited amount of appointments, so we are introducing a new way of working which we believe will help resolve these problems and improve access to our surgery," said a post on the Bay Medical Group Facebook page.
"If you want to contact us for any medical or admin issue complete our online form on our website or through the messages section on NHS App.
"Our Clinical Assessment team members will assess your medical needs.
"We will respond the same day with an appointment for that day if needed or make a future appointment or issue a prescription or other advice.
"You may be signposted to other NHS services by our Clinical Assessment team, if an appointment isn't needed, which will free up much needed appointments.
"Our admin team members will deal with the non-clinical requests
"Please don't worry, if you don't have access to a smartphone or computer, you can still contact us in your normal manner and one of our reception team members will help you submit a request.
"By introducing this online option it will help with reducing wait times for those patients who need to use our more traditional ways of contacting us."
