A homeless man has been sent to prison after admitting criminal damage in Morecambe town centre.
Andrew Phimister, who is 55 and from no fixed address, was today sentenced to seven weeks in jail after pleading guilty to three counts of criminal damage which occurred in Morecambe town centre yesterday morning.
Mr Phimister was arrested in connection with windows being smashed at a number of local businesses on Marine Road Central and Euston Road.
A spokesperson for Morecambe Area Police said: ‘’We will take proactive action against anyone committing such mindless and reckless damage which has a massive impact on local independent businesses.’’
