Two people were rescued after their dinghy became stranded in mud between Glasson Dock and Overton.
Rescue services were called out on Sunday afternoon after a distress call.
The Morecambe RNLI hovercraft rescued both people in difficult weather conditions.
"At 16:27 today, we received our first tasking from HM Coastguard regarding a distress call involving two individuals in a dinghy that had become stranded in the mud flats located between Glasson Dock and Overton," said a spokesperson for the RNLI.
"The situation was urgent, as the individuals had been in difficulty for an extended period, compounded by heavy rain and a strong southwesterly wind pushing up the river.
"Upon arrival at Snatchems, our hovercraft was swiftly launched and navigated downriver towards Sunderland Point, while our lifeboat made its way to Sunderland Point and subsequently headed towards Glasson Dock.
"The challenging weather conditions necessitated a prompt response to ensure the safety of the casualties.
"Upon reaching the stranded individuals, the hovercraft made initial contact and successfully recovered both the casualties and their dinghy.
"We transported them back to Glasson Dock, where our crew provided immediate medical assistance and care until the ambulance arrived on the scene.
"Both rescue assets returned to the station at 19:15 hours. Shortly after, at 19:54 hours, we received our second tasking of the day, but we were stood down before we launch.
"A big thank you to our partner agencies MRCC Holyhead, HM Coastguard Morecambe and Northwest Ambulance Service."
