A school nursery in Morecambe has celebrated the opening of its new 'baby room'.
Lancaster Road School Nursery has expanded to provide funded care for babies from nine months old.
The nursery, which opened in 1997 and is based alongside Lancaster Road Primary School, launched its new Butterfly room at the start of term this week.
They also introduced extended opening hours during term time – from 7.30am until 5.45pm.
“We are so excited to open our new Butterfly baby room and welcome the youngest members of our community," said Karen Blackburn, manager at Lancaster Road Nursery.
"This is a big step for the nursery and a fantastic opportunity for families to access outstanding early years care.
"Our team is passionate about giving every child the very best start in life, and we can’t wait to see the Butterfly room thrive.”
The new facilities align with the extension of government childcare provision from 15 hours to 30, meaning from September, all parents with pre-school children can claim 30 hours’ childcare a week, whether working or in receipt of benefits.
